Hymnary.org is an online hymn and worship music database for worship leaders, hymnologists, and amateur hymn lovers alike. At Hymnary.org you can search or browse hymns by title, tune, meter, key, scripture reference, and more.
Nowadays, if you want to listen to hymns, your choices are limited. Thankfully, there is still one media outlet that plays the hymns. Every Saturday, as I make my way to my church’s ladies Bible study, I listen to Family Radio. I recently discovered on their website that they also have recorded just the tune of many hymns. You can click the link and sing-along.
We recently read about “The Student Hymnal: Hosanna, Loud Hosannas” in a recent The Hymn Society newsletter. The book also includes the background story of each hymn, as well as a devotional of what the hymns mean. It is a wonderful resource for families, choirs, and schools.
This organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting hymns of all kinds. The participants come from many different theological backgrounds.
