Description
Listen to the beginner piano arrangement of My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less (On Christ the Solid Rock)
“My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less (On Christ the Solid Rock)” was written by Edward Mote, a pastor at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Horsham, West Sussex, in 1834. The refrain of “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” refers to the Parable of the Wise and the Foolish Builders found in Matthew 7:24-27. The hymn is part of the gospel hymns genre. The first stanza declares God’s grace; stanzas 2 and 3 concern the application of that grace in times of trouble; stanza 4 brings the hymn full circle with the ultimate realization of God’s grace.
